Baseball completes AAC-opening sweep at KCU
GRAYSON, Ky. (February 24, 2024) – The Milligan University baseball team completed a three-game sweep at Kentucky Christian in the Buffs’ Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opening weekend on Saturday. The Buffs took a 13-5 win in the series finale.
GRAYSON, Ky. (February 24, 2024) – The Milligan University baseball team completed a three-game sweep at Kentucky Christian in the Buffs' Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opening weekend on Saturday. The Buffs took a 13-5 win in the series finale.
Milligan moves to 13-3 on the season with the Buffs' seventh-straight win and sit at 3-0 in league play. KCU falls to 8-3, 0-3 AAC.
A six-run second inning and two more in the third gave Milligan an early 8-0 edge. The Buffs led 12-3 after six innings and held on for the 13-5 victory.
Braden Spano had a bases-clearing double in the second, a two-run homer in the seventh and an RBI single in the ninth. He drove in six runs in the ballgame. Angel Lobo had a double and scored three times. Caleb Berry reached base safely four times, double, drove in a run and scored twice.
Ian Weil go tthe start and gave up two earned runs over three innings. Creed Werker allowed one run in four innings of relief and Canyon Geren pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Buffs head to Carson-Newman on Tuesday for a nonconference midweek matchup.
