Baseball run-rules Indiana Tech to secure series sweep
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 17, 2024) – The Milligan University baseball team secured a three-game sweep over Indiana Tech with a 13-3 run-rule victory at Anglin Field on Saturday.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 17, 2024) – The Milligan University baseball team secured a three-game sweep over Indiana Tech with a 13-3 run-rule victory at Anglin Field on Saturday.
Milligan rises to 9-3 on the season while Indiana Tech falls to 0-3.
The Buffs raced out to a 7-0 lead in the opening three innings. Vicente Mendoza had a two-run double in the third, four runs were scored on a walk or hit by pitch with the bases loaded and another run scored on an error.
Andrew Mathias drove in a pair of runs in the fourth and Mendoza had another two-RBI double in the fifth. Run-scoring singles by Roangeraud Fraai and Gaven Jones pushed Milligan's lead to 13-1 at the end of the fifth inning.
The Warriors scored twice in the top of the seventh but a 5-4-3 double play ended the ballgame.
Mendoza went 3-4 with three doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Jones and Mathias each drove in three runs. Ryan Molinari had two hits and scored three times. Vasili Kaloudis, Braden Spano and Fraai each scored twice.
Milligan started Ian Weil struck out four and gave up one earned run in five innings.
The Buffs host Johnson on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
