Baseball drops road opener at (RV) Middle Georgia State
COCHRAN, Ga. (February 9, 2024) - The Milligan University baseball team was defeated by Middle Georgia State 12-1 in game one and 7-6 in game two in the first two games of a three-game nonconference series in Georgia on Friday.

COCHRAN, Ga. (February 9, 2024) - The Milligan University baseball team was defeated by Middle Georgia State 12-1 in game one and 7-6 in game two in the first two games of a three-game nonconference series in Georgia on Friday.
The Buffs move to 5-2 on the season while the Knights move to 3-2.
Game 1 - Middle Georgia State 12, Milligan 1 (7 innings)
Jacob Poe allowed two scoreless innings in his start against the Knights.
Middle Georgia State scored the first seven runs of the game all with two outs in the third and fourth. Milligan responded with a single by Vasili Kaloudis that scored Jose Paula to score Milligan's only run of the game in the top of the sixth.
The Knights hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 12-1.
Game 2 - Middle Georgia State 7, Milligan 6 (9 innings)
The Buffs got started early in game two with a double by Caleb Berry. Vasili Kaloudis hit a sacrifice fly that put the Buffs on the board in the first.
In the fourth, Gaven Jones doubled to left field to bring in Andrew Mathias and Jack Sutton. The Knights responded back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Milligan added two more runs in the top of the sixth with Middle Georgia State scoring one run in the bottom of the sixth. The Knights tied the game at five in the eighth with a two RBI single to right field.
The Buffs were quick to respond back in the ninth with an RBI double by Vasili Kaloudis. Middle Georgia State tied the game 6-6 after a passed ball. The Knights scored the winning run as a batter was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Paula had three hits and Jones, Kaloudis and Berry each drove in two runs.
The Buffs and Knights play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
