Kylie Russell Greer, "Coach Ky," joined the Milligan women’s basketball staff as assistant coach in 2017 and became the program's head coach in April, 2020.
Milligan notched a third-place finish in the Appalachian Athletic Conference standings in 2023-24.
Greer led the Buffs to a 23-8 record and a season ending lost in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. During the regular season Milligan finished conference play at 19-3, and scored 100+ points on 6 occasions in conference. Additionally, out of conference, Milligan played 3 teams that ended up in the NAIA semi-final: University of the Cumberlands, Carrol (MT), and a win over Providence (MT).
The 23-24 team earned a variety of individual awards. The majority of the team earned Academic All Conference and 8 players earned NAIA Scholar Athlete. Semaj Clark, Jaycie Jenkins, Lauren Longmire and Madi Runnels earned CSC Academic All District. Jaycie Jenkins and Lauren Longmire were First Team All Conference, Semaj Clark and Halie Padgett were Second Team All Conference, Semaj Clark and Lauren Longmire were on the All Defensive Team, and Lauren Longmire was the AAC and NAIA Team Champion of Character. Jaycie Jenkins was also 2nd Team WBCA All American.
In her first season as head coach the team only won 8 games during a shorted COVID 20-21 season. The following year the team boasted a 25-8 record and a 2nd place finish in conference regular season. Jaycie Jenkins was name NAIA All American that season. In 22-23 Milligan finished 19-10, 3rd place in the conference. 23-24 Milligan earned a spot in the NAIA National Tournament, 3rd place in AAC Regular Season, and had wins over multiple Top 25 teams. Coach Greer has a 75-42 overall record in her time as head coach.
The 2015 Milligan alumna played for four seasons under long-time coach Rich Aubrey, her predecessor. Greer was named as a member of the 2022-23 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 class.
Before joining the staff at Milligan, she coached multiple travel teams ranging in age from 12 to 18 (2012-2017). Twelve of her former travel team players in that short span went on to play college basketball, 3 have played at Milligan. Greer served as the Director of High 5 Training (2011-2020), coaching basketball skills development through individual workouts, small group sessions and camp settings.
Greer and some members of the Lady Buffs annually collaborate with Navajo coaches to run basketball camps in New Mexico and share the gospel. Greer is also active with sports ministry organizations including Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Crossfire Ministries. She also teaches several sport management classes at Milligan.
Greer played for Milligan from 2011 to 2015. She graduated with honors in exercise science and went on to earn a master’s degree in sport management from East Tennessee State University in 2017. Before playing at Milligan, Kylie enjoyed a successful career as an athlete at Alcoa High School.
Kylie married her husband Logan, a 2012 alumnus of Milligan, in May 2021. They have a son, Russell Jackson Greer.
