Bio

Byron Kramer was named assistant coach of the Milligan track & field program in August of 2024.

Prior to coming to Milligan, he was the head track & field coach at Brenau University (Ga.). In his inaugural season there, Kramer led the Golden Tigers to their fourth straight SSAC Conference Championship. He also coached Olamide Sokunbi and Deishane' Honeycutt to All-American status during the 2016 season.

Previous to coming to Brenau, Kramer served from 2011 – 2015 as an assistant coach at Oglethorpe University and as an assistant coach at Norcross High School. From 2004 until the present, Kramer has owned Real Fitness Trainers, a personal training studio in Peachtree Corners, GA, while coaching private clients in technical events such as pole vaulting, high jumping and hurdling. Throughout the 1980s Coach Kramer coached high school cross country track and basketball in Big Rapids, Michigan.

A 1979 graduate of Ferris State University where he lettered in Cross Country, Basketball and Track and Field, Kramer served as the captain of the Cross Country and Track teams in his junior and senior years. At Ferris State he majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Physical Education. He also studied Human Anatomy in a PhD program at the University of Tennessee at Memphis.

Coach Kramer still competes in track and field, cycling races, power lifting competitions and in triathlons.
