2007 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE | THOMAS DILLARD
Thomas Dillard graduated from Milligan College in 1999 with a B.S. in business administration and a minor in computer science.
A baseball player, Thomas was Tennessee Virginia Athletic Conference All-Conference from 1996-1999. As a freshman, he earned TVAC Freshman of the Year and was named to the Mid-South All-Star Team. In 1998, he was also recognized as TVAC Player of the Year. Following graduation, Thomas worked as a professional baseball player for the Minnesota Twins for two seasons, playing the position of catcher. He was a member of the 2000 Appalachian League Champion Elizabethton Twins and hit a grand slam for his first professional homerun versus a Detroit Tiger affiliate.
In 2001, Thomas began serving as a public safety officer for the city of Johnson City. In Basic Police Academy, he set the obstacle course record and received the Most Athletic Award. Over the past six years, he has worked his way up to the position of Investigator in the Criminal Investigations Department. Currently, he is working toward completion of National Forensic Academy at the University of Tennessee.
He is married to Whitney Rice, class of 2000. They have two children, Kira Alysse, age six, and Karson Jace, age five. Thomas continues to play on numerous softball teams. He participates annually in the Public Safety Diabetes Softball Tournament and the Johnson City Police Department team in their Toys for Tots Mud Run. Additionally, he is active in the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Flag Football League and plays each year in Milligan’s Homecoming tradition: the Alumni vs. Student Football game. Thomas and Whitney are members of Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City.
