2002 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE | ANGELA GENTRY BRATTON
Angela Gentry Bratton, a 1992 graduate of Milligan College, is inducted into the Milligan Athletics Hall of Fame as a former member of the volleyball team but helped Milligan attain unparalleled success in athletics in softball and basketball as well.
Gentry played three seasons (1989-1991) in a volleyball uniform, during which time she accumulated 1,113 kills, 1,259 digs, 442 blocks and 161 service aces. She holds the single-season record for blocks with 234 in the 1989 season.
Gentry led Milligan to a 113-29 win-loss record in her three seasons and collected numerous individual honors on the conference, regional and national level. Her accolades include All-Conference, NAIA All-District, NCCAA All-District and NCCAA All-District Tournament in 1989; NCCAA All-American, NAIA South All-Region, NAIA All-District, NCCAA All-District, NCCAA All-District Tournament Team and All-Conference in 1990; and NAIA South All-Region, NAIA All-District and the Conference MVP in 1991.
Gentry was the NAIA District 24 Player of the Year twice (1990, 1991) and an NAIA All-American honorable mention in 1991.
In addition to holding the single-season record for blocks, Gentry previously held the Milligan season records for kills, hitting percentage, kills per game, aces, digs and digs per game until they were broken in the mid- and late-1990s.
Gentry graduated from Milligan with a degree in computer science in 1992 and is the current director of operations at a medical clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She and her husband, Jason Bratton, live there with their daughter, Reagen.
