94 Buffs recognized as 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday, naming 94 members of Milligan University athletics teams to the list. Milligan women’s soccer led the way with 12 Buffs making the list, while men’s track & field followed as a close runner-up with 10.

18 Milligan teams earn NAIA Scholar Team Award
Eighteen Milligan University athletics teams impressively earned distinction as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2019-2020 academic year, announced the NAIA on Tuesday as part of National Awards Day. These 18 teams were among over 2,000 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

No. 24 women’s golf enjoys another outstanding season
The Milligan College women’s golf team put together another successful season, despite the spring season being cut short. The Buffs finished the season ranked No. 24 nationally in the NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches Top 25 Poll. This marked the sixth time in the 10-year history of the women’s golf program that they have been ranked in the final top 25 poll.

Milligan finishes fifth in first spring tournament
The No. 24 Milligan College women’s golf team started their spring season off at the Skyhawk Invitational in Pine Mountain, Georgia, March 9-10. In a field of 13 teams, the Buffs finished in fifth with an overall score of 635.

Perryman earns first career AAC weekly honor
After leading the No. 16 Milligan College women’s golf team with rounds of 74 and 75 at the final event of the fall semester, sophomore Alayna Perryman has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27. The AAC league office announced the award Monday afternoon.

Women’s golf jumps to No. 16 in national poll
Following two wins in the first three events of the season, the Milligan College women’s golf team made a big jump in the first NAIA coaches top 25 poll, landing at No. 16. Milligan previously was unranked but spent the last seven months in the receiving votes category. This succeeded a stint of 185 consecutive weeks Milligan spent in the top 25 from March 2015 to October 2018.

Women’s golf wins second event of season
After breaking the 18-hole scoring record Monday, the Milligan College women’s golf team put three players on the all-tournament team and won the East Tennessee Collegiate Tuesday at Johnson City Country Club.

Buffs break record, lead field after day one
Nellie Berglund led the Milligan College women’s golf team into the record book Monday at Johnson City Country Club. With Berglund’s 71 and share of the individual low round, the Buffs shot 296 on day one of the East Tennessee Collegiate to set a new 18-hole team scoring record Monday.
