ATHENS, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2019) – Just coming off her 4,000th career assist, Kellee Geren picked up her third double-double of the season as the Milligan College volleyball team beat Tennessee Wesleyan (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19) in a four-set Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up Tuesday night inside James L. Robb Gymnasium.
Set-by-set
After dropping the first frame, Milligan and Wesleyan went back and forth in the second, third, and fourth sets, with each frame coming down to the last few points. Milligan finally broke away in the second set when a kill by Carley Gregory gave the Buffs the momentum they needed to take a hold of the lead.
The Buffs jumped ahead in the third set with an early lead from Bulldog attack errors, and a kill from Sarah Grace Larkey. The Bulldogs battled back and took the lead again until a kill by Alyssa Gibson regained Milligan the lead and allowed them to stay there.
Milligan had the lead in the fourth set until the score was 13-13 before Wesleyan took a short-lived lead. The Bulldogs took advantage of Milligan errors, and service aces by Miyah Woodard to take a two-point lead over Milligan, before a Geren kill put the Buffs back on top.
