Milligan sweeps day one of Music City Invitational
The Milligan College volleyball team competed in day one of the Music City Invitational held at Fisk University Friday and finished the day 2-0. The Buffs (5-2) faced Loyola University (4-7) out of Louisiana in the first match and Huntington University (5-4) in the second.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2019) – The Milligan College volleyball team competed in day one of the Music City Invitational held at Fisk University Friday and finished the day 2-0. The Buffs (5-2) faced Loyola University (4-7) out of Louisiana in the first match and Huntington University (5-4) in the second.
Game one recap
In the first match, Milligan defeated Loyola in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 27-25). Julia Codispoti and Carley Gregory led the Buffs offense with 10 kills and nine kills respectively. Codispoti had an .818 hitting percentage. Layla Grant had six serving aces and 11 digs, and Kellee Geren had 33 assists.
Loyola was led by Malea Howie who had nine kills, and Dallis Brown with 10 digs.
Game two recap
The Buffs rallied back from dropping the first two sets in the match to defeat Huntington University in five sets (21-25, 14-25, 25-20, 25-13, 15-5). Gregory led the Buffs in kills with 13 and also had nine digs to assist the Buffs defensive efforts. Cameron McConnell led the Buffs defense with 19 digs, and Geren had her third double-double of the season with 40 assists and 16 digs.

Milligan will start day two of the Music City Invitational Saturday morning at 9 a.m. against Georgetown College and will play again at 4 p.m. against IU East.
