94 Buffs recognized as 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday, naming 94 members of Milligan University athletics teams to the list. Milligan women’s soccer led the way with 12 Buffs making the list, while men’s track & field followed as a close runner-up with 10.

18 Milligan teams earn NAIA Scholar Team Award

Eighteen Milligan University athletics teams impressively earned distinction as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2019-2020 academic year, announced the NAIA on Tuesday as part of National Awards Day. These 18 teams were among over 2,000 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

Seven women earn spot on CSCAA Scholar All-America Team

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named 1,479 swimmers and divers to the Scholar All-American Team for the 2019-20 season. Anna Backus, Jordan Clark, Lindsey Grow, Maggie Halloran, Anna Hathcock, Kaylee Propst and Rachel Scheffer earned spots on the list to represent the Milligan University women’s swimming team. Their counterparts on the men’s side had four make the list.

Swimming recognized for success in classroom

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected the Milligan University men's and women's swimming teams for Scholar All-American honors. Milligan was one of 461 schools to receive the award for the spring semester.

Halloran caps swim season with All-American honor

Junior Maggie Halloran received her sixth career All-American recognition Saturday afternoon after a sixth place finish in the women’s 200 backstroke helped conclude results for Milligan College at the 2020 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships.

Halloran’s top ten finish highlights day three of championships 

The Milligan College swim team saw both the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay teams, and Maggie Halloran as an individual in the 100 backstroke, move on to the finals in the third day of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships Friday afternoon. Halloran is a member of the 200 medley relay team that moved on to the finals, making that her third relay team to move on to the finals at this year’s championships. She has also moved on to the individual finals twice.

The Milligan College swim team completed day two of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships Thursday afternoon. After 16 events the women’s team are in 20th place and the men are in 17th.

Milligan finishes day one with new relay record

The Milligan College swim team began day one of the NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships Wednesday afternoon and highlighted the day with a pair of top-20 finishes and a new 800 relay record. The women started the day off in the 800 freestyle relay with a 16th place finish with the men’s 800 freestyle relay finishing in 15th place and setting a new Milligan record.

Swimming sets sights on national championships 

Coming off a third-place finish at the Appalachian Athletic Conference championships, the Milligan College swim team has been preparing for the NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships which begins this week at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. The 64th annual men's and the 40th annual women's championships will begin Wednesday, March 4 and run through Saturday, March 7.

Milligan finishes third in AAC Championships

Maggie Halloran was named co-female swimmer of the meet and the Milligan College swim team finished in third place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships in Kingsport, Tenn. The Buffs finished with a combined team score of 945.5 points with the women accounting for 447.5 and the men accounting for 498 of the points. The women kept their third place standing through all three days but the men moved to third place on the men’s side by beating WVU-Tech by eight points in the final day of competition.

National qualifiers highlight day two of AAC swim championships 

The Milligan College swim team highlighted day two of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships with 16 national qualifying times and are entering day three with an overall third place standing. Milligan currently has 638.5 points with the women accounting for 311.5 and in third place for the women and the men have 327 and are in fourth place for the men.

Swim team finishes day one of AAC Championships 

The Milligan College swim team completed day one of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships Thursday and are entering the second day of competition in third place overall with a combined score of 245.5.

The Milligan College swim team has had a successful season thus far but are looking to add to their success as they compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships this week, Feb. 13-15, at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Milligan College’s swimming teams rank in the top 10 nationally for academics, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America on Wednesday announced Scholar All-America Teams for the fall 2019 semester.

The Milligan College swim team faced off with Mars Hill University Saturday afternoon with the men tying 130-130 and the women falling 170-85 on senior day inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
