Second half goals doom Buffs
The Milligan College women’s soccer team scored in the beginning minutes of the first half to pick up an early lead over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan, but the Bulldogs answered back in the second half and defeated the Buffs 3-1 Saturday night at Anglin Field.

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2019) – The Milligan College women's soccer team scored in the beginning minutes of the first half to pick up an early lead over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan, but the Bulldogs answered back in the second half and defeated the Buffs 3-1 Saturday night at Anglin Field.
Freshman Audra Morgan scored the first goal of the game in the eighth minute to give the Buffs an early 1-0 lead over Wesleyan. Sophomore Ashlen Burch assisted on the goal and neither team after that was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the first half. The Buffs outshot the Bulldogs 8-3 in the first half.
The second half was a different story as Wesleyan came out hot, scoring a goal in the first three minutes of play to tie the game back up. The Bulldogs scored again only two minutes later to give them the lead. Wesleyan added on another goal in the 73rd minute and Milligan was unable to answer back.
Burch and senior Bekah Cundiff each led the team with three shots on the night, two of Burch's being on goal. Morgan had two shots, both on goal as well. Overall Milligan outshot Wesleyan 15-9.
Up next, Milligan plays at home Wednesday, Oct. 9, against St. Andrews, and at home again on Saturday, Oct. 12, against Bluefield. After Saturday, the Buffs will only have four regular season games left in the season.
