No. 12 women’s golf earns top-10 national finish

All five Buffs finished the season with rounds in the 70’s to help the No. 12 Milligan University women’s golf team land 10th at the 2021 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship. Alayna Perryman, the Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the year, led the Buffaloes with a 73 on the final day to finish tied for 16th.

Rain halts day three of women’s golf national championship; Buffs tied for ninth

Jenny Simonsen and Alayna Perryman led No. 12 Milligan University through a rain-shortened third round of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship on Thursday. Play came to a stop early in the afternoon with the plan to resume round three and complete the tournament with round four on Friday.

For the second time in its young history and first time since 2016, the No. 12 Milligan University women’s golf team will compete in the final round of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship after making the cut following round two on Wednesday.

Alayna Perryman, Michaela Lindahl and Meryl Castle all carded 75, and the No. 12 Milligan University women’s golf team is 10th overall after round one of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship. The event is being held at Rose Creek Golf Course May 25-28.

Nationals-bound Buffs

A roster featuring the Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the year, coach of the year and three All-Conference first team selections will represent No. 12 Milligan University at the 26th annual NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship next week. The event is set for Tuesday-Friday, May 25-28, at Rose Creek Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

An at-large bid was plenty achievable, but No. 11 Milligan University eliminated the need for such a step by automatically qualifying for the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship with a victory in the Appalachian Athletic Conference NAIA Direct Qualifier on Tuesday. Alayna Perryman won medalist honors with a 2 under par 71 on day two, winning the individual title by three strokes.

Lindahl wins fifth career golfer of the week

Michaela Lindahl won medalist honors in leading No. 11 Milligan University to the team title at last week’s Mountain Empire Intercollegiate, and for her efforts has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference golfer of the week for the week ending April 18.

Four of the five all-tournament spots went to Milligan University, including Michaela Lindahl who earned medalist honors, and the No. 11 Buffaloes wrapped up the regular season with a victory at the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate Tuesday at Elizabethton Golf Club.

No. 9 women’s golf lands runner-up at regional event

Alayna Perryman took third and a handful of other Buffaloes finished in the top 10 to lead the No. 9 Milligan University women’s golf team to a runner-up finish in the third meet of the spring season. Milligan claimed second by 11 strokes at the UVA-Wise Invitational held at Cattails at MeadowView on Monday.
