Women’s Basketball earns eighth-straight win
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (December 6, 2023) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team notched its eighth-straight victory with a 71-34 triumph over Columbia International in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.

Milligan moves to 9-1 on the season and 7-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Each of the Buffs' conference wins have come by double-digits this season. CIU falls to 2-7, 1-6 AAC.
Through six minutes of action the game was tied at seven as CIU looked to run the clock before initiating its offense. Milligan ended the quarter on an 8-0 run with three-pointers by Erin Larkin and Lauren Longmire to lead 15-7 after the opening period.
Semaj Clark made a pair of threes during a 12-2 run in the second quarter to push Milligan's lead to 19 (32-13) with three minutes left in the half. The Buffs carried a 36-18 lead into the break.
Milligan outscored CIU 25-1 in the third quarter as Longmire had 10 in the frame and Halie Padgett scored eight points. The Buffs scored the first 18 points of the quarter before CIU converted a free throw with 2:40 left. Milligan led by as many as 42 points in the fourth as they took the 71-34 victory.
Longmire had a season high 22 points, three assists and three steals. Jaycie Jenkins posted a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Clark had 12 points and five rebounds and Padgett added 12 points.
Milligan won the rebounding battle 46-35 and finished plus-14 in the turnover margin (19-5).
The Buffs take on AAC rival Bryan on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
