94 Buffs recognized as 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday, naming 94 members of Milligan University athletics teams to the list. Milligan women’s soccer led the way with 12 Buffs making the list, while men’s track & field followed as a close runner-up with 10.

18 Milligan teams earn NAIA Scholar Team Award
Eighteen Milligan University athletics teams impressively earned distinction as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2019-2020 academic year, announced the NAIA on Tuesday as part of National Awards Day. These 18 teams were among over 2,000 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

Aubrey wins AAC coach of character award
Rich Aubrey of the Milligan women’s basketball team has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of Character following his 27th and final season this past semester. The AAC league office announced the award Monday afternoon.

Milligan promotes Russell to lead women’s basketball
Milligan College alumna Kylie Russell has been tabbed to lead women’s basketball following the retirement announcement of longtime head coach Rich Aubrey. Russell, who played for Aubrey from 2011 to 2015, has served as an assistant coach for the Buffaloes since 2017.

Rich Aubrey steps down as women’s basketball coach
Rich Aubrey announced Tuesday he is stepping down from his role as head coach of Milligan College’s women’s basketball program. Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer announced Aubrey will succeed Brad Wallace in the role of campus minister.

Buffs fall short in AAC final
Hot shooting from Emily Kiser and solid efforts from Kaely Gose and Halie Padgett were not enough as the Milligan College women’s basketball team’s Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament run ended in the championship game. The Buffaloes finished as the AAC tournament runner-up after a 60-46 loss to Union College Saturday at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.

Halie Padgett scored a career high 26 points, and the Milligan College women’s basketball team defeated Allen University 78-67 Friday at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center to advance to the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship game.

A team effort that saw five Buffaloes in double figures helped the Milligan College women’s basketball team stun No. 13 Bryan College, the top seed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament, 75-67 in the quarterfinals Thursday at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.

Kaely Gose scored her 1,000th career point as a member of the Milligan College women’s basketball team, and the Buffaloes ran away with a 71-51 win over Truett McConnell University in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.

Gose earns All-Conference first team
Milligan College’s Kaely Gose has been selected as a member of the 2019-20 Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Conference first team, announced the league office Wednesday evening during the annual awards banquet. Gose led Milligan in scoring and rebounding this season and ranked ninth and third in the AAC in those categories, respectively.

Halie Padgett registered her seventh double-double of the season, but a strong second half by visiting St. Andrews University led the Milligan College women’s basketball team to a 78-74 loss Saturday afternoon at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse in the regular-season finale.

Kaely Gose tallied her 13th double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Halie Padgett registered 11 and nine in those categories, but the Milligan College women’s basketball team lost to No. 14 Bryan College, 88-66, Wednesday night in the final road game of the regular season.

The Milligan College women’s basketball team had a 10-point lead in the first half but lost by 10 at Columbia International University, 64-54, Wednesday evening on the road. Kaely Gose led the Buffs with 19 points.

Women’s basketball drops AAC game at Reinhardt
Lily Griffith scored 18 points while Kaely Gose and Halie Padgett both registered double-doubles, but it was not enough as the Milligan College women’s basketball team fell to Reinhardt University, 71-60, Sunday afternoon on the road. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but weather in the area forced the game to be pushed back one day.
