Emily Kearney named Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year; five Buffs collect Academic All-America Cross Country/Track & Field honors
AUSTIN, Texas (August 9, 2021) – Milligan University graduate student Emily Kearny was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year and five total Buffs were named NAIA Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Monday.

Kearney awarded USTFCCCA National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year; 20 Buffs named All-Academic
NEW ORLEANS, La. (July 23, 2021) – Milligan University graduate student Emily Kearney was named the NAIA Women’s Outdoor National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as the Buffs reeled in a multitude of year-end USTFCCCA academic awards on Thursday.

Milligan men and women finish top 10 in USTFCCCA Program of the Year standings
NEW ORLEANS, La. (June 3, 2021) – The Milligan University track and field and cross country teams were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as top 10 teams in the nation, according to the final USTFCCCA NAIA Program of the Year standings.

Led by All-American efforts by Aaron Jones, Nathan Baker, Eli Cramer and Tim Thacker, the No. 9 Milligan University men’s cross country team finished third at the NAIA national championships.

No. 9 Buffs prepped for spring championship
Two elite squads will take to the cross-country course for the biggest race of the season this Friday as the Milligan University No. 4 women and No. 9 men head to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. Both teams have been eagerly awaiting the national meet after winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship last fall.

Freshman Aaron Jones won South Region men’s athlete of the year while Head Coach Chris Layne won South Region men’s coach of the year and women’s coach of the year to highlight the prestigious honors for the Milligan University cross-country program.

Buffs maintain top 10 in national poll
The Milligan University men’s cross country team held on to their presence in the national top 10, following its team and individual victories at last week’s Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship. The NAIA announced the poll on Thursday and ranked Milligan No. 10.

Jones, No. 9 Buffs AAC champions
The perfect season continued Saturday morning for the No. 9 Milligan University men’s cross country team. Freshman Aaron Jones ran away with the individual title, and the Buffs placed five in the top six to secure their fourth Appalachian Athletic Conference championship in the last six years. Jones won the race by 36 seconds while Milligan was four points away from a perfect score.

Men’s cross country cracks national top 10
After going undefeated through all five events of the season so far, including winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference Preview its last time out, the Milligan University men’s cross country team moved up to No. 9 in the latest national top-25 poll. The NAIA announced the poll on Thursday.

Jones earns national runner of the week
Following Monday’s announcement as Appalachian Athletic Conference runner of the week, Milligan University freshman Aaron Jones on Wednesday was named the NAIA runner of the week. Jones led the No. 13 Buffs to a victory at the AAC Preview, winning the 8k race in 25:30.

DeWolf, Jones win AAC runner of the week
Milligan University’s Avery DeWolf and Aaron Jones raced their way to wins at last week’s Appalachian Athletic Conference Preview and to AAC runner of the week awards. The AAC announced the awards on Monday for the week ending Oct. 18.

Jones paces No. 13 Buffs in win of AAC Preview
Freshman Aaron Jones led the No. 13 Milligan University men’s cross country team to its fifth win in as many events Saturday morning when the Buffaloes ran away with the Appalachian Athletic Conference Preview. Jones was the first of five Buffs in the top 10.

No. 13 Buffs win again, remain unbeaten
Tim Thacker’s third-place finish led a group of four Buffs inside the top 10 as the No. 13 Milligan University men’s cross country team earned another win Friday night at the Royals Challenge. The win kept Milligan undefeated through four meets of the season so far.
