MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2019) – After leading their respective nationally ranked squads to victory in the first race of the season, Milligan College's Hannah Bell and Jake Crow have been named Appalachian Athletic Conference runners of the week. The announcement was made Monday for the week ending Sept. 8.
Bell led the No. 17 Milligan women moments before Crow led the No. 15 Milligan men Friday night at the Zaxby's Open, hosted by Tusculum University. Bell finished runner-up with a 5k time of 20:18, leading a group of five Buffs inside the top eight. Crow took third overall with a time of 16:30, pacing the Milligan men who landed five in the top 11.
This marked the second year in a row Milligan competed at the Tusculum event with a limited squad. It marked the second time Milligan's women won the event, as the Buffs were led by then-freshman Gabrielle Mardis in last year's event.
The Buffs will be back in action Friday as they host the Dual at Buffalo Creek, a dual meet with the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan.
