94 Buffs recognized as 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday, naming 94 members of Milligan University athletics teams to the list. Milligan women’s soccer led the way with 12 Buffs making the list, while men’s track & field followed as a close runner-up with 10.

18 Milligan teams earn NAIA Scholar Team Award
Eighteen Milligan University athletics teams impressively earned distinction as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2019-2020 academic year, announced the NAIA on Tuesday as part of National Awards Day. These 18 teams were among over 2,000 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

The team and six members of the Milligan University men’s track & field program were recognized for achievement both on the track and in the classroom by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

35 Buffs earn AAC All-Academic in track & field
The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced Thursday the All-Academic Teams for men’s and women’s outdoor track & field. Milligan College led the way with 20 men and 15 women making each list.

Brown defends national title; Buffs earn 10 All-Americans
Rasheem Brown won his third NAIA national title by successfully defending the national championship of the 60-meter hurdles, Tim Thacker and Gabrielle Mardis claimed national championship runners-up, and the Milligan College track & field team earned 10 All-Americans on the final day of the 2020 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.

Six Buffs advance to finals on day two of national meet
Junior Tim Thacker and sophomore Rasheem Brown ran the fastest semifinal times of the mile and 60-meter hurdles, respectively, as the Milligan College track & field team punched six more tickets to the finals of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships Friday. Senior Katlyn Haas, sophomore Gabrielle Mardis, junior Nathan Baker and freshman Jake Crow advanced in the women’s and men’s 3000 meters.

Owen, DeWolf, men’s DMR on to finals
Bekah Owen and Avery DeWolf started the Milligan College track & field team’s indoor national championships with a productive day, each advancing to the final of the women’s 5000-meter run Thursday at Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. Sam Wehner, Ronan Philippot, Alex Windham and Nathan Baker continued the day with equal success by advancing to the final of the men’s distance medley relay.

Track & field ready to roll at national championships
With a pair of national champions and 10 Buffs seeded inside the top 13, the Milligan College track & field team is set for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The 55th annual men’s and 40th annual women’s championships are set for Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7, at South Dakota State University’s Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

Thacker named region track athlete of the year
Milligan College junior Tim Thacker has been named South Region Male Track Athlete of the Year for the 2020 NAIA Indoor Track & Field season, announced the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday.

Thacker earns third AAC athlete of the week of season
After competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships and winning AAC male athlete of the year, junior Tim Thacker earned his third AAC athlete of the week honor of the season. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office.

Women win AAC title, men runners-up
With seven more individual titles on day two of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Milligan College track and field team wrapped up the meet as team champion on the women’s side and team runners-up on the men’s side. The AAC championship event took place Thursday and Friday at JDL Fast Track.

Buffs open AAC championships with six titles
Day one of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships was a good one for Milligan College. The No. 14 men are currently sitting in second place while the Milligan women are in a tie for the top spot. The two-day event started Thursday at JDL Fast Track.

Already with 19 national qualifying marks this season, Milligan College’s track & field program will look to continue its success at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Thursday-Friday, Feb. 20-21, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The men enter the event with a No. 14 national ranking.

Sophomore Rasheem Brown of the Milligan College track & field team has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 16, announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Buffs wrap indoor regular season at VMI Classic
Rasheem Brown dominated the 60-meter hurdles, and the Milligan College track & field team finished up the indoor regular season at the Virginia Military Institute Indoor Classic Friday and Saturday.

Buffs improve high national marks
After a successful weekend at the Camel City Invitational, the Milligan College track & field team made some moves in the national rankings, according to Wednesday’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s indoor track & field polls. The men moved up one spot to No. 13 while the women moved up seven spots to No. 19.
