Tennis closes out regular season with loss to Reinhardt
Karson Light and Marlaina Peterson won at singles while Chessa Jones and Light won at doubles, but Milligan College's tennis teams dropped their regular season finales at home to Reinhardt University, 6-3 on the women's side and 9-0 on the men's side.
Light and Peterson won their 12th and 16th singles matches of the season, improving to 12-8 and 16-4, respectively, which lead the team. Light won a close one at No. 4 singles, 7-6 (3), 7-5. Peterson won decisively at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Earlier in the day, Light also was a winner in doubles, defeating Reinhardt's Taylor Nelson/Albane Queinnec with doubles partner Jones, 8-4. McKenzie Grady had the closest other match of the day but lost in a third set super tiebreaker, 6-7, 7-5, 10-6.
On the men's side, Reinhardt, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, won handily in all three doubles matches before sweeping the singles action in straight sets.
Up next for Milligan will be the AAC tournament, scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, April 18-20.
