Halloran, Chism-Essler headline All-AAC awards
Freshman standout Margaret Halloran and head coach Kelly Chism-Essler of the Milligan College swim team headlined the list of Appalachian Athletic Conference awards, nabbing Athlete of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year announced the league office Saturday.

In addition to Halloran's and Chism-Essler's remarkable achievements, sophomore Sara Farmer tied the school record in the 50M freestyle with a time of 24.96, and was named to the All-AAC team for the 50M freestyle and the 100M backstroke. Joining Halloran and Farmer on the All-AAC team for the 400M medley relay were Lindsey Grow and Anna Hathcock.
Rounding out the honors for the Buffaloes was sophomore Sterling Burnett. Burnett was named to the All-AAC team for the 200M IM and the 100M backstroke, marking his second year straight making the All-AAC team for the backstroke.
HALLORAN'S REMARKABLE YEAR
Halloran continued on her success all season with two meet records and a school record set all during the AAC Championships last weekend. She seemed to be peaking at the right time as she set the meet record for the 500M freestyle with a time of 5:07.94, and the meet and school record for the 1650M freestyle at 17:45.92, a whole 20 seconds faster than the previous record. Halloran was also named to the All-AAC team for the 500M freestyle, the 1650M freestyle, and the 200M backstroke.
NATIONALS BOUND
Fourteen swimmers will make the trip to Columbus, Georgia, to compete in the NAIA National Meet scheduled for Thursday, March 1 through Sunday, March 4. Highlighting the list, Halloran is slated to compete in the 500M and 1650M freestyle, as well as the 100M backstroke, while Farmer takes on the 50M and 100M freestyle, and the 100M backstroke. Burnett is scheduled to compete in the 100M backstroke and 200M IM.
