After coming away victorious with a thrilling overtime victory over No. 12 Georgia Gwinnett in the opening round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship earlier this week, Milligan University’s historic season finally came to a close Saturday in the championship game of the opening round with a 2-1 loss to St. Thomas.

Milligan University Head Coach David Lilly won coach of the year, and nearly his entire starting squad earned a spot on the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer All-Conference team, as announced by the AAC league office Friday morning.

No. 25 Buffs come up short in AAC title match
Elies Sebbouh scored a first-half equalizer, but the No. 25 Milligan University men’s soccer team lost to Reinhardt University 2-1 in the championship game of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday night on Anglin Field. The match featured the two AAC regular-season co-champions in a rematch of Milligan’s 1-0 victory over Reinhardt last fall during the regular season.

For the sixth time this season, the No. 25 Milligan University men’s soccer team has swept Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the week honors. Charlie Betts and Andre Levarity were instrumental parts of the Buffaloes’ 4-2 semifinal win over St. Andrews University in the only match of last week.

After leading the Milligan University men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan to secure the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season title, Elies Sebbouh and Charlie Betts have been named AAC men’s soccer players of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday afternoon for the week ending March 21.

The Milligan University men’s soccer team picked up right where it left off last fall, defeating No. 14 WVU Tech 3-2 under the lights of Citizens Bank Stadium Thursday night. Inaki Moreno scored twice to bookend a goal by Jett Carter.

The two were instrumental parts of Milligan knocking off AAC leader Reinhardt with a last-second finish in the only game of the week.
