Buffs fall to No. 17 Union
Jacob Cawood scored a game high of 23 points to get his 1,000th career point but the Milligan College men’s basketball team fell to reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference champion Union College 85-75 Tuesday night in Kentucky.
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 26, 2019) – Jacob Cawood scored a game high of 23 points to get his 1,000th career point but the Milligan College men's basketball team fell to reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference champion Union College 85-75 Tuesday night in Kentucky.
Milligan started the game by going on an 8-2 run to put themselves ahead of the Bulldogs. Mike Featherston scored five of the first eight points and scored the first points of the game. Featherston, Tyler Nichols and Cawood each scored a three in the first five minutes to help put them ahead. The Buffs led by as many as 12 in the first eight minutes.
Union tied the game up at 30-30 with six minutes left in the first half and went on to lead by as many as 11 points before halftime.
Milligan was able to cut Union's lead down at the beginning of the second half, going on a 13-4 run to put the Buffs on top 51-50. The two teams stayed neck and neck with four minutes left in the game before the Bulldogs were able to distance their lead. Union would go on a 12-2 run to finish the game out.
Union outshot Milligan .444 to .431. Featherston was behind Cawood in the scoring column with a career high of 17 points on the night. He also had nine rebounds and five assists. Bo Pless and Nichols each had 10 points and Desean Green had nine points with a game high of 10 rebounds and five assists.
Milligan will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 30, in Kingsport, Tenn. at The Show tournament. They'll face Warner at 2:30 p.m. then on Sunday they'll face WVU Tech at the same time as well.
