ELON, N.C. (Nov. 8, 2019) – The Milligan College men's basketball team traveled to Elon for an exhibition matchup and fell 95-54 Friday night.
Elon came out dominant over the Buffs with two back to back three pointers to make the score 6-0 in the first two minutes of play. Tyler Nichols was the first Milligan player of the night to get into the scoring column with a layup to make the score 6-2.
Milligan never took the lead in the first half and trailed at the half by 18. In the first half Milligan outscored Elon 10-8 from in the paint and had a free-throw percentage of 85.7% compared to Elon who had 80%.
Elon dominated the entire second half and were ahead of the Buffs at one point by 46. Jacob Cawood led Milligan's scoring in the second half with eight points and was 3 for 4 in field-goal attempts.
Nichols led the Buffs scoring for the night with 14 points. Micah Paulk followed with 11, Cawood finished the night with 10 and Mike Featherston had nine. Matt Cole, Nichols, Bo Pless, Featherston and Peter Olatunji led the Buffs in rebounds with four apiece. Paulk led the Buffs in free-throws going 5 for 6.
Up next, the Buffs travel to Allen University on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The women's team will play at 5:30 p.m. and the men are scheduled to follow at 7:30 p.m.
