Baseball scores 11-4 victory at Alice Lloyd

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. (March 24, 2022) – The Milligan University baseball team downed Alice Lloyd 11-4 in a midweek nonconference matchup of Wednesday afternoon.
Milligan rises to 22-11 on the year while ALC falls to 5-15.
The Buffs jumped out to a 5-0 with a five-run third inning. Justin Greene raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run that scored Gaven Jones. Eric Rigsby smacked a two-run double and scored on a base hit by Augustus Fraley.
The Eagles battled back to a one-run margin as ALC scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Two HBP, a walk and a pair of wild pitches allowed the Eagles to make it a 5-4 game with just two hits in the inning.
John Combs knocked a pinch-hit two-run single in the top of the sixth to grow the Buffs' advantage to 7-4.
In the seventh, a pair of ALC errors helped load the bases before Robert Salcedo swatted a grand slam to bring the score to the final margin of 11-4.
The Buffs ended the seven-inning contest with a double play.
Salcedo scored twice and drove in four with his grand slam. Rigsby and Logan Hullette each had two hits and scored twice.
Sean Clark earned his first win of the season as he went 4.2 innings and allowed four runs on two hits while striking out five and walking two. Preston Miller earned a seven out save. He did not allow a run and struck out two.
Milligan returns to Anglin Field on Friday to begin a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series against Union.
