JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 21, 2021) – An early homer from Augustus Fraley and a late homer from Anthony Guzman were not enough as the Milligan University baseball team lost the deciding finale of a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference set, 12-5, against St. Andrews Sunday at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
Milligan moved to 17-11 (7-5 AAC) with the loss, although the Buffs have still won six of their last eight games.
Buffs bats quiet in deciding finale
Fraley's home run in the second inning looked to give the Buffs a little spark as Richard Polinsky followed with a single in the next at-bat, but instead the Buffs were held quiet to only two hits the rest of the way.
One of the other Buffs' hits came on a Guzman dinger to left field in the seventh inning which helped Milligan cut into St. Andrews' late lead, but the home run would prove to be the last base hit for the Buffs.
Up next
Milligan plays at Alice Lloyd on Wednesday then Bryan next weekend for a three-game AAC set. The Buffs will return home the following weekend to host No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan back here at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
