Buffs win series opener, 6-5
Friday's series-opening win clinched a spot in the upcoming tournament and featured a late surge from Milligan. Chance Hall started a four-run spurt in the seventh inning as Milligan erased a 5-2 deficit with four runs in the seventh. Hall singled, scoring Camron Harper, then Juan Vasquez came home to score on a Union error. Hall later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Braden Jones, then Isaac Barkley scored the winning run on a Chayse Frye single to right field.
Eight Buffs finished the opening game with a hit, including six who had multiple hits. Hall made the start on the bump, but Colby Fields picked up the win in relief, pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
Union bounces back with two big wins
Teams finished Friday with the nightcap of the twin bill, and Union pulled away early. The Bulldogs posted four runs in the second, three runs in the third and six runs in the fourth. Hall had an RBI single in the third, scoring Snaider Torrealba, and Kirby Smith (sacrifice fly) and Frye (double) had RBI's in the fifth to make it 3-0.
