Alex Biggerstaff enters into his second season as the assistant men's basketball coach after spending four seasons as an assistant at Mars Hill University (NCAA DII).

In his first season on staff with the Buffs, Milligan made the largest year-over-year turnaround in the Appalachian Athletic Conference as the Buffs improved their conference record by seven wins in 2022-23. The Buffs won seven of their final 10 regular season games to earn the No. 8 seed in the AAC Tournament.

Biggerstaff spent three seasons with the Buffs after beginning his collegiate career at UNC-Asheville (NCAA DI). He served as a captain his senior season and graduated from Milligan with a degree in exercise science in 2017.

He moved on to Mars Hill where he served as the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Lions. In 2019-20, Maris Hill earned a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament for the first time in a decade and had its winningest season since 2010. In 2018-19 Biggerstaff mentored Jashawn Brooks to the SAC scoring title. He recruited 2021-22 SAC Freshman of the Year Kadyn Dawkins.

Biggerstaff has served as a camp instructor at Mars Hill, Milligan, UNC, and Virginia and is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
