2000 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE | MARK BERG
Tonight we induct into the Milligan College Athletic Hall of Fame Mr. Mark Berg, a 1972 graduate of Milligan College. Mark is married to the former Connie Britton who is also a '72 graduate of Milligan and they have three sons: Scott, Ryan and Seth.
Mark is the office manager for Wenger Pipeline Construction, a gas and oil pipeline construction company prominent in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. He also serves as Treasurer of Flame Energy Company, a specialized corporation in plugging gas and oil wells in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Mark's business acumen was an asset as well in previous positions as owner and broker of Shaw Real Estate in Wayne County, Ohio. He has also been an active member of the Cornerstone Community Church and served on its Council and Finance Committee. Mark is also involved with several organizations including the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, the Ohio Archeological Association, the Ohio Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association.
Mark was a prolific scorer during his basketball days at Milligan and amassed an amazing 1,556 points in only two years after transferring from the University of Michigan. He averaged 25 points per game while at Milligan from 1970-1972 which prompted former head coach Phil Worrell to say, "If every player I coached was like Mark Berg, coaching would be very easy, and I might coach forever." Perhaps even more impressive is that Mark was known as a model student-athlete, a very good student and a first class citizen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Mark Berg.
