2019 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE | GRAYSON PATTON
Grayson Patton graduated from Milligan in 2008 with a bachelor of science in both biology and mathematics.
While at Milligan, Grayson was a standout on the men’s golf team, earning All-Conference all four years. In 2005, he was the AAC Conference Champion and NAIA Region XII Champion, and he was an individual qualifier in the NAIA National Tournament in Olathe, Kansas. He earned All-NAIA Region XII twice and led the Buffs to conference and region titles and their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2007 at Indiana National Golf Club. In 2008, he was recognized as the Milligan College Male Athlete of the Year 2008.
After graduating from Milligan, Grayson earned a master of science in biology from Eastern Kentucky University, where he specialized in Fisheries Management and Aquatic Ecology. He currently serves as a professor of biology at Surry Community College in Dobson, North Carolina, where he teaches traditional biology, botany, zoology, ecology, and regional natural history, as well as field-based courses. He has also served as an environmental biologist consultant for various state and private entities in Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky.
Grayson married his wife, Stephanie, in 2010, and they are the proud parents of a son, Finnley, born in 2018. The family attends G3 Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Grayson is very involved in environmental education and leads numerous workshops and hikes throughout the southern Appalachian region. On occasion, he finds time to squeeze in a game of golf.
