2013 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE | BIANCA SPOTO
Bianca Spoto earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications at Milligan in 2004, but what initially brought this Florida native to Milligan was a passion for soccer.
Bianca began playing soccer in preschool. In fact, in an interview with the Elizabethton Star several years ago, she talked about how at age four she would run onto the field in the middle of her brother’s soccer games in an attempt to kick the ball. Those shenanigans led to a successful eight years of playing club soccer, where her team won four state championships, and success as a high school player, where she helped Clearwater Central Catholic win two state championships.
At Milligan, Bianca was a four-year starter. Her freshman season, she was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference team followed by the all-region team her sophomore year. In her junior year, she received honorable mention as an All-American. In her senior year, she was named an NAIA National Player of the Week, as well as being named NAIA Regional and Conference Player of the Week. She tallied 47 goals during her college career, assisted on 11 scores and accumulated 105 points. One of her most notable gifts is being able to kick equally well with both feet—something rarely seen in this sport.
After graduating from Milligan, Bianca went on to the University of Central Florida to earn a master’s degree in mass communications. From there, she moved to New York City where she worked for a private family foundation. She then returned to Saint Petersburg, Florida, to be closer to family and is currently working for McKinsey and Company, a global management consulting firm.
Though she is no longer playing soccer regularly, Bianca remains active by running and playing golf. She is also a devoted fan of her local sports teams: the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Please help us congratulate Bianca Spoto, a 2013 inductee into the Milligan College Athletics Hall of Fame.
