Geren records 4000th career assist in AAC sweep
Senior setter Kellee Geren recorded assists on the last five points to pick up career assist No. 4,000 on the way to an easy win for the Milligan College volleyball team Saturday inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. After earning her 1,000th career dig one week ago, Geren became a member of an exclusive club as Milligan defeated Columbia College 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-22).

(Sept. 14, 2019) – Senior setter Kellee Geren recorded assists on the last five points to pick up career assist No. 4,000 on the way to an easy win for the Milligan College volleyball team Saturday inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. After earning her 1,000th career dig one week ago, Geren became a member of an exclusive club as Milligan defeated Columbia College 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-22).
Geren entered the match with 3,962 and tallied 38 assists in the match. She sat at 33 with the scored knotted at 20-20 in the third set before assisting kills on Milligan's last five points. Geren targeted Sarah Grace Larkey for the first, then Elise Gregory for the final four as Milligan used a 5-2 run to finish the match.
In total, Geren assisted kills from seven Buffs, including a match high 11 from Julie Dockery and eight from Carley Gregory and E. Gregory. Layla Grant led the defense with 14 digs while Ashelyn Vandergriff tallied 10 digs and four assists.
Milligan (8-4, 3-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) used a strong opening set to run away with an easy win in three. The Buffs recorded 15 kills on 25 points in the opening frame, never letting up on the Columbia squad (0-6, 0-5 AAC) which ranks last in the AAC's South Division. The win moved Milligan to one game back of first place in the North Division.
Up next, Milligan hits the road for the next six matches before returning home Tuesday, Sept. 24, for an AAC matchup with Bluefield College. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
