Track & field opens 2020 at ETSU
A handful of Buffs took the opportunity to get some early season reps Friday at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational as the Milligan College track & field team opened 2020 with a handful of Appalachian Athletic Conference standards.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 10, 2020) – A handful of Buffs took the opportunity to get some early season reps Friday at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational as the Milligan College track & field team opened 2020 with a handful of Appalachian Athletic Conference standards.
"This meet serves as an opportunity to get our folks going again coming off the break," Head Coach Chris Layne said. "We're not very sharp right now, but I really like how we've competed and from what I saw today, I think they got their work in during the holiday which will keep us on schedule."
The day featured the most success in the women's 800 meters, where Erica Stone claimed seventh overall before Caitlin Dominy, Maci Cloninger and Rebecca Glover dominated heat two with a 1-2-3 finish for 10th, 15th and 27th place overall, respectively. All four nabbed AAC qualifiers.
Matt Huff followed moments later with a 15th-place finish in the men's 800 with a time of 2:06.65 in his debut, taking third in his heat also with an AAC qualifier.
Jemimah Ndune and Kiley Wood started and finished the day with AAC qualifiers. In the morning, Ndune debuted in the 60 meters 32nd overall with an 8.41. In the afternoon, Wood ran a personal best 28.04 in the 200 meters.
Cameron Higgins and Brianna Buck wrapped up the day in the field events, posting solid marks in the weight throw and high jump, respectively. Higgins placed 23rd with a personal best 11.23 meter throw while Buck took sixth with a 1.50 meter jump.
Milligan continues action at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational Saturday.
