Tennis hosts top-10 Union in AAC matchup
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 1, 2022) – The Milligan University tennis teams hosted Union in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) league play at the Mathes Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. Milligan’s men fell 7-0 to the No. 9 Bulldogs and the Buffs’ women were downed 6-1 by No. 8 Union.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 1, 2022) – The Milligan University tennis teams hosted Union in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) league play at the Mathes Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. Milligan's men fell 7-0 to the No. 9 Bulldogs and the Buffs' women were downed 6-1 by No. 8 Union.
Milligan men's tennis falls to 5-2 on the season and women move to 4-3 overall. Union's men rise to 8-2 and the Bulldog women advance to 4-2.
Karson Light recorded the Buffs' lone point in the women's match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Kaitlin Barrett also logged a competitive showing at the top singles spot with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat.
On the men's side, No. 3 doubles notched the lone victory on the day with Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas earning a 6-3 triumph.
In singles action, none of the Buffs went down without taking at least three games. Nathan Smily battled to a 7-5, 6-2 defeat at No. 1 singles. Carter Rigsby fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Justin Rigsby and Thomas both fell 6-4, 6-3 at fifth and sixth singles.
Milligan returns to action for the Buffs' first-ever conference matchup at Johnson (Tenn.) at 2:30 p.m.
