Women’s Soccer drops AAC game at (RV) Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga. (October 7, 2023) – The Milligan University women's soccer team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game at Reinhardt 2-0 on Saturday evening.
The Buffs fall to 6-5-1 on the season and 5-3 in league play. Reinhardt, who is receiving votes in the NAIA national rankings, moves to 7-4-1, 7-0-1.
After 30 minutes of scoreless soccer with both teams recording three shots on goal, Reinhardt scored the game's opening goal in the 33rd minute. The Eagles worked the ball up the right side to the endline, centered a pass and fired it into the top left corner of the goal to give the hosts a 1-0 edge.
The Eagles cashed in on a set piece late in the first half to go ahead 2-0. The Eagles had a free kick from just inside midfield. The ball was launched into the penalty area and headed into the goal in the 42nd minute.
In the second half the Buffs managed an early shot on goal by Natalie Roper in the 47th minute and corner kicks in the 3rd and 82nd minutes. In the 82nd, Ella Sawa got her head on the corner kick but it was stopped by the Reinhardt back line.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second half as Reinhardt came away with the two-goal victory.
The Eagles outshot the Buffs 22-7 (9-6 SOG). Sawa had three shots, all on goal. Roper and Angeleena Waaland had two shots each. Akyla Walcott made five saves on the night.
Milligan is scheduled to play at Kentucky Christian on Wednesday.
