Cundiff, Burch, Cranford highlight women’s soccer awards
The Milligan College women’s soccer team had three players receive Appalachian Athletic Conference all-conference honors, while also having several players make the all-academic team announced the league office Wednesday morning.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 14, 2019) – The Milligan College women's soccer team had three players receive Appalachian Athletic Conference all-conference honors, while also having several players make the all-academic team announced the league office Wednesday morning.
Senior forward Bekah Cundiff and sophomore forward Ashlen Burch were named to the All-AAC first team. Cundiff also received the Golden Boot award for having the most goals scored during conference play. Sophomore defender Isabella Cranford received All-AAC second team honors.
Cundiff scored 18 goals this season, with 17 being in conference play to lead the league in conference goals scored. She ranked second in points per game with 43 and had seven assists. Cundiff was fourth in shots per game with 57 and was tied for third with shots on goal with 35. She led the league with game winning goals, recording seven on the year.
Burch had eight assists on the year with five goals. She was fourth in conference for assists/game.
Cranford has been at the helm of the Milligan defense for two years now. Cranford led Milligan's defense to 10 wins where their opponent scored an average of less than one goal.
Junior Madison Hodges was named to the champions of character team and also joined 13 other Buffs who made the all-academic team. Hodges along with, Nicole Blais, Burch, Ellie Cachiaras, Cundiff, Dharma Fawbush, Kim Henson, Miriam Janoyan, Megan Kent, Alyson McMillan, Kasey Moore, Annika Oiler, Alex Thomas and Alexis Williams were all named to the all-academic team. The Buffs were tied in second with Tennessee Wesleyan for the number of members who made the team with Truett-McConnell leading with 18 players.
The Buffs finished the 2019 season 11-5-1 (10-2-1 AAC). Milligan fell to the AAC regular season champions Truett McConnell during AAC tournament play this past weekend.
