GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 2, 2019) – Freshman Michaela Lindahl shared the individual lead while the Milligan College women's golf team earned the lead outright, as the Buffaloes began the 2019-20 season with a win at Tusculum University's Bob Dibble Classic Sunday and Monday.
Lindahl (74-72) went to a playoff with a chance to claim medalist honors but lost on the third hole to Tusculum's Jennifer Keim (74-72). Lindahl parred while Keim birdied the third hole of the playoff.
Milligan (309-306) posted the top scores both days of the two-day, 36-hole event. At 615 for the tournament, the Buffaloes won by a 24-stroke margin. Nellie Berglund (78-79), Meryl Castle (79-78) and Ashley Cauthen (80-77) all fired 157 to claim fifth overall in the five-team, 27-individual event. All three were one stroke off making the all-tournament team.
Milligan's B team (319-333) finished third behind Milligan's A team and Tusculum. Madison Blanton (77-83) led that group with a 10th-place finish.
Up next, Milligan heads to Jekyll Island, Georgia, for the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Coastal Georgia next Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 9-10.
