Milligan Women's Bowling Finishes Second at Brandon Burns Memorial
SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Milligan University women's bowling team continued their weekend in Smyrna at the Brandon Burns Memorial tournament at the Smyrna Bowling Center on Sunday. As a squad, the Buffaloes finished second out of 15 programs in attendance.
For the second straight day, four team games and eight baker games made up the format, with Milligan scoring a total of 3,743 pins in the team games and 1,380 in the baker games. Their overall total of 5,123 put them behind only Pikeville (5,481).
Emily King ended up just eight pins shy of an individual title, grabbing 836 pins across four team games. Her 209-pin average, with a game-high total of 231 pins in team game four, helped vault the squad to their final standing in second place.
Braeton Wilson had another great day at the lanes, leading Milligan JV1 with 789 pins in team games. She tied for seventh in the combined women's individual standings after placing seventh at Saturday's Greater Nashville Open.
The final Milligan finisher in the top 20 was Emilee Horton, who came in 18th with 747 pins, managing a 186.75 average per game. She had a single-game best score of 206 pins in her first team game of the tourney.
In baker games, Milligan came away with 1,380 pins, which was good for third out of 15 teams at the varsity level. The JV squad came in third out of five teams in baker games, with 1,291 pins.
The Buffs will return to action on Nov. 2-3 at Bowlero Southern in Marietta, Ga., which is a Tier 1 tournament.
