Women’s Basketball closes regular season with win over St. Andrews
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 24, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s basketball team concluded its regular season with a 106-61 victory over St. Andrews on Smith-Harris Court in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Milligan heads into the postseason with a 22-6 record and finishes third in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) standings with a 19-3 league record. St. Andrews finishes its season 6-17, 5-17 AAC.
The Buffs scored the first 11 points of the contest and never trailed in the win. Jaycie Jenkins opened the game with a three-pointer and capped the 11-0 start with another trey. Three-point players by Semaj Clark and Lauren Longmire pushed Milligan's lead to 23-7 with two minutes left in the quarter. The Buffs led by 15 (23-8) going into the second period.
SAU outscored Milligan 24-19 in the second quarter but trailed by double-digits the entire quarter. SAU scored the final five points in the half as Milligan took a 42-32 lead to the locker rooms.
The Buffs scored the first seven points of the second half to lead 49-32. Another 8-0 run pushed Milligan's lead to 72-45 with a minute left in the quarter. Milligan carried a 76-47 lead into the fourth quarter. The Buffs broke the 100-point barrier for the sixth time this season as a 30-point fourth quarter made the final 106-61.
Jenkins finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Longmire had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Jenna Hare recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Halie Padgett scored 11 points and grabbed three rebounds.
Milligan totaled 29 assists on 39 made baskets. The Buffs won the rebounding battle 65-32 and scored 49 bench points in the game.
As the No. 3 seed in the AAC Tournament, Milligan will take on sixth-seeded Montreat next Thursday at 9:15 p.m. in the conference quarterfinals at the MeadowView Marriott in Kingsport.
