Women’s Basketball defeats WVU Tech 72-55

The Buffs move to 2-1 on the season while WVU Tech falls to 2-2.
Jaycie Jenkins scored the first eight points of the game for the Buffs and kickstarted a 14-0 run in the first quarter that gave Milligan a 16-4 lead. The Buffs led by 10 (16-6) after the first 10 minutes of action.
Jenkins scored the first eight points of the second quarter as well. The Buffs closed the half with a 14-2 with Jenkins and Kenzie Campbell draining three-pointers during the spurt.
Milligan maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half and came away with the 72-55 victory.
Jenkins had 24 points for the second-straight game and five rebounds. Semaj Clark added 12 points and four rebounds. Campbell finished with eight points. Eleven different Milligan players scored in the game.
The Buffs made seven three-pointers while holding WVU Tech without a trey for the game. Mliligan won the rebounding battle 39-29 and the Buffs' bench outscored their Bears counterparts 33-9.
Milligan opens Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse against Bluefield.
