Women’s basketball blows past Rams, 72-51
The Milligan College women’s basketball team improved its winning streak to four games with a 72-51 victory over visiting Columbia International University Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Kaely Gose earned her ninth double-double of the season with a game high 19 points alongside 10 rebounds.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 18, 2020) – The Milligan College women's basketball team improved its winning streak to four games with a 72-51 victory over visiting Columbia International University Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Kaely Gose earned her ninth double-double of the season with a game high 19 points alongside 10 rebounds.
The win moved Milligan to 9-12 overall, 7-8 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Play by play
The game featured only one tie and Milligan leading the rest of the way. The Buffs were out by double figures by the end of the first quarter and later expanded the lead to as many as 24 in the fourth.
CIU had it down to a two-point game midway through the second quarter, but after Milligan closed the half on a 12-3 run, the Rams only had it down to single digits twice more.
Bailey Berry hit a 3-pointer to make it 40-28 and put Milligan ahead by double digits for good.
In the box score
Emily Kiser provided the early spark by scoring Milligan's first nine points, making her first four shots, and finishing with 11 points. Berry finished with 10. Halie Padgett neared a double-double of her own with eight points and eight rebounds.
Gose registered her double-double, the 11th of her career, with two and a half minutes left. She went 6-for-9 from the field and 7-for-7 from the charity stripe, also adding an assist, two blocks and a steal.
For CIU, Jordan Sprueill led the way with a double-double consisting of 17 points and 11 rebounds. She went 6-for-14 from the floor.

Milligan hosts two games next week, starting with Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 p.m. The Buffs also will be home next Saturday, Jan. 25, against Columbia College.
