Forgety earns AAC pitcher of the week
Milligan University’s Erin Forgety threw a combined no-hit shutout in her only game of last week, and for her efforts was named Appalachian Athletic Conference pitcher of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week of March 29 – April 4.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 5, 2021) – Milligan University's Erin Forgety threw a combined no-hit shutout in her only game of last week, and for her efforts was named Appalachian Athletic Conference pitcher of the week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week of March 29 – April 4.
Forgety was three outs away from a perfect game before starting the seventh inning with a hit batter. She went on to retire the next two before Lainey Mays recorded the final out for the combined no-no. Milligan won that game 4-0 to help improve its record to 20-4 (15-3 AAC), second-best in the AAC. Forgety also struck out a career high 11 hitters in the effort.
Forgety tops the Milligan charts in earned run average (1.94) and strikeouts per game (6.07), and she ranks No. 6 in the AAC in both categories. Six times this season she has struck out five or more hitters, and six times this season she has not given up a run. On the season, Forgety is 7-2 with 50 strikeouts and only nine walks.
Up next, Milligan faces Carolina University Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Anglin Field. It starts a 10-game home stand for the Buffs to complete the regular season.
