Milligan Men’s 4x800m Relay Breaks Record Again, Earns National Title on Day Two of NAIA Indoor Championships
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Milligan University's men's and women's indoor track & field squads had a huge day on Friday, as three individuals advanced to their respective finals on Saturday, while the men's 4x800m Relay squad became national champions.
Chronologically, Bryn Woodall would run the men's Mile first and finish with a 4:10.44 to notch the top time of the preliminaries.
Then, the men's 800m saw Luis Peralta post the top qualifying time with his 1:50.38. Sylas Chambers finished in 14th with a 1:53.59, as well.
Ellen-Mary Kearney posted a 10:08.88 to nab the No. 5 time in the women's 3000m prelims, qualifying for the final on Saturday. Ashlyn Haas placed 16th with a 10:32.23.
Winston Telford's 9:02.99 in the prelims of the men's 3000m placed him 20th in his final race of the season.
Finally, the headliner was the men's 4x800m Relay, as the Buffaloes once again set a new NAIA, facility and school record with a 7:29.31 which beat the remainder of the field by better than six seconds. The men's 4x800m Relay squad becomes the first ever NAIA National Champion relay in Milligan history.
Things will continue with finals on Saturday, as Woodall runs the men's Mile at 12:35 p.m. to get things going for the Buffs. Peralta runs the men's 800m at 2:25 p.m., while Kearney competes in the women's 3000m at 3 p.m.
