Will Stockley honored as USTFCCCA South Region Athlete of the Year
NEW ORLEANS (February 22, 2024) – Milligan University graduate student Will Stockley was selected as the NAIA South Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday afternoon.
NEW ORLEANS (February 22, 2024) – Milligan University graduate student Will Stockley was selected as the NAIA South Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday afternoon.
Stockley took home Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the second time in his career this winter. He won AAC titles in the 1k and mile and was the conference runner-up in the 3k. The Buffs claimed their third-straight AAC men's indoor track and field title this winter.
Stockley ran the NAIA's "A" standard in three individual events this season. He owns the No. 3 time in the NAIA in the mile (4:07.04) and the 3k (8:11.35). His 2:26.12 effort in the 1k at the AAC Championships ranks fourth nationally. Stockley ran the anchor leg on Millgan's No. 1-ranked distance medley relay.
Stockley had the region's top times in the 1k, mile, 3k and DMR this season. He was a three-time AAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honoree in 2023-24.
Milligan heads to the NAIA National Championships next week in Brookings, S.D. The NAIA announces its national championship field tomorrow.
