Thacker wins second AAC weekly honor of season
For the second time this season and fourth time in his career, Milligan College junior Tim Thacker has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference athlete of the week. Thacker earned the men’s indoor track athlete of the week award for his efforts during the week ending Feb. 9.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 10, 2020) – For the second time this season and fourth time in his career, Milligan College junior Tim Thacker has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference athlete of the week. Thacker earned the men's indoor track athlete of the week award for his efforts during the week ending Feb. 9.
Thacker ran a pair of races this weekend at the prestigious Camel City Invitational and posted a pair of high marks. In the mile, he ran the NAIA's No. 1 time at 4:11.32, pacing all other milers this season by more than three full seconds. The mark helped him earn runner-up in a deep NCAA field.
Thacker followed later with the NAIA's No. 3 time in the 1k, posting a 2:28.43 which helped him take another runner-up finish and the top mark among all collegians in the Camel City race.
Both results for Thacker this weekend marked national A standards.
Thacker and the Buffs compete next at the VMI Indoor Classic on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15, in the final event prior to the championship portion of the indoor season.
