Men’s tennis suffers narrow loss to open 2020
Carter Rigsby and Charlie Moseley picked up wins in both singles and doubles, but the Milligan College men’s tennis team lost its first match of the spring semester, 4-3, to Lees-McRae College Wednesday afternoon at Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Jan. 15, 2020) – Carter Rigsby and Charlie Moseley picked up wins in both singles and doubles, but the Milligan College men's tennis team lost its first match of the spring semester, 4-3, to Lees-McRae College Wednesday afternoon at Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club.
The pair helped put Milligan out to a one-point advantage after doubles, winning 6-2 at No. 3 doubles while Jose Giler and Taylor Graalman won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. However, LMC responded with four of the six points in singles. Rigsby and Moseley earned the two singles points with wins at No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles.
Rigsby won his first set in a tiebreak, 7-5, before winning by retirement after one game in the second set. Moseley's match went the distance, and the junior won 10-6 in a super tiebreaker. This followed bouncing back from a loss in the first set to win the second 6-0.
Up next, Milligan plays on the road twice before coming home for the first time in the 2019-20 season on Saturday, Feb. 22. The home match will be the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener against Union College and is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Mathes Tennis Center.
