94 Buffs recognized as 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced 2019-20 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday, naming 94 members of Milligan University athletics teams to the list. Milligan women’s soccer led the way with 12 Buffs making the list, while men’s track & field followed as a close runner-up with 10.

18 Milligan teams earn NAIA Scholar Team Award

Eighteen Milligan University athletics teams impressively earned distinction as NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2019-2020 academic year, announced the NAIA on Tuesday as part of National Awards Day. These 18 teams were among over 2,000 total teams across the NAIA recognized with this award.

Team, five Buffs honored with ITA All-Academic

The Milligan University men’s tennis team, along with five individuals, earned postseason recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The ITA named Milligan a 2020 All-Academic Team and Landon Brown, Derian Janeke, Charlie Moseley, Carter Rigsby and Daniel Roshak 2020 Scholar-Athletes.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced Wednesday the All-Academic Teams for men’s and women’s tennis, with six members of the Milligan College teams earning a spot on the list.

Men’s tennis finishes strong after slow start

In similar fashion as the women's tennis team, the Milligan College men’s tennis team finished its season with a successful trip to Hilton Head Island during spring break. The men were 5-6 overall and won four of their last five, the only loss during that stretch coming against No. 23 Missouri Valley College.

Martin, Moseley garner AAC weekly awards

Milligan College senior Minda Martin and junior Charlie Moseley have been named Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s and men’s tennis players of the week for the week ending March 15, announced the league office Monday afternoon. Martin and Moseley led their respective teams to a successful week in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Men’s tennis goes 4-1 over spring break

Charlie Moseley and Derian Janeke both posted four singles wins as the Milligan College men’s tennis team posted a 4-1 record in Hilton Head Island over spring break. The wins helped move Milligan to 5-6 on the season.

Tennis drops nonconference tilt with Georgetown

The Milligan College tennis teams started March with a nonconference match against Georgetown College Sunday afternoon at Mathes Tennis Center. The men jumped out front early and played the match fairly even but lost 5-2. The women posted a few close decisions but lost 7-0.

The Milligan College tennis teams hosted their spring Appalachian Athletic Conference opener Saturday at Mathes Tennis Center, but both fell to nationally ranked Union College 6-1.

Tennis loses tight battle with Carson-Newman

Carter Rigsby and Daniel Roshak picked up wins in singles after the Buffs swept doubles on the men’s side, but both Milligan College tennis teams lost to Carson-Newman University Saturday on the indoor courts at Knoxville Racquet Club. Milligan’s men lost 4-3 while the women lost 7-0.

Carter Rigsby and Charlie Moseley picked up wins in both singles and doubles, but the Milligan College men’s tennis team lost its first match of the spring semester, 4-3, to Lees-McRae College Wednesday afternoon at Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club.

The Milligan College men and women’s tennis teams finished their fall season Wednesday afternoon with wins over UVA Wise. The men won 7-0 and the women won 4-3.
