Stephen Gilbert named NAIA Men’s Swimmer of the Month for November
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 10, 2021) – Milligan University sophomore Stephen Gilbert has been tabbed as the NAIA Men’s Swimmer of the Month for November, the Association announced on Friday.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 10, 2021) – Milligan University sophomore Stephen Gilbert has been tabbed as the NAIA Men's Swimmer of the Month for November, the Association announced on Friday.
Gilbert racked up individual "A" cuts in four different individual events, hit national-qualifying times in six different events, swam two national No. 1 times, posted four top-five marks nationally, set four individual program records and contributed to four school record relays over the last month.
Gilbert set school records and swam No. 1 times in the 200 back (1:47.99) and 400 IM (3:56.59) at the Fall Frenzy Invitational. His 200 IM at the Fall Frenzy also was an NAIA "A" cut and ranks fourth nationally.
He set school records in the 100 free (46.70) and 200 free (1:39.85) in a tri-meet against Lynchburg and Roanoke. His 200 time was an "A" cut and is the second-fastest mark in the event in the 2021-22 season.
Gilbert swam on all four of the Buffs' record-breaking relays at the Fall Frenzy. All four of the Buffs' relays ranked top-four in the nation, with Milligan's 400 medley relay slotted at No. 2 in the country (3:24.00).
Milligan swimming resumes competition in January.
