Santiago Corral and Simen Haraldstad receive Academic All-District honors

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 21, 2023) – Milligan University men's soccer players Santiago Corral and Simen Haraldstad named as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Corral, a graduate forward in Milligan's Master of Arts in Humanities program, earned All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) First Team honors in 2023. He leads the Buffs and ranks ninth in the NAIA with 17 goals. Corral's 37 points are third-most in the AAC and 17th in the nation.
Corral scored three times in the AAC Tournament, including game-winners in the conference semifinal and title game, and was named the AAC Tournament MVP. He earned NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week honors after posting hat tricks in back-to-back games at Kentucky Christian and Montreat. He scored in four games against nationally ranked teams or teams receiving votes in the NAIA top 25.
Haraldstad, a senior holding midfielder and a business administration major withy a 3.88 cumulative grade-point average, repeats as an Academic All-District pick. Haraldstad earned All-AAC First Team honors in 2023 and was a second team all-conference honoree in 2021. A team captain and four-year starter, he recorded a career-high six goals and two assists this fall.
Haraldstad scored a pair of memorable game-winning goals this season. He scored in the final second of regulation to lift the Buffs to a 2-1 conference victory over Bryan and scored in the 71st minute of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round as the Buffs knocked out No. 10 William Carey.
Milligan men's soccer won both the AAC regular season and tournament titles. After a 2-2 start, the Buffs reeled off 18-straight games without a defeat, including three shutout victories in the AAC Tournament and a 2-0 victory over William Carey in the national tournament. Milligan set program records in goals scored (85) and shutouts (13) in 2023. The Buffs own the No. 5 scoring offense (3.86 GFA) and the No. 7 scoring defense (0.68 GAA) in the NAIA.
The Buffs take on No. 6 Mobile in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16 at the NAIA National Championship Final Site at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan. on Nov. 27 at 2:00 p.m.
