JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2019) – The Milligan College men's golf team competed locally this week and came away with a fourth-place finish at the Mars Hill University Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday. Caleb Milligan shot a 1 under par while Jonathan Liggett shot even par to lead the Buffs at Johnson City Country Club.
C. Milligan and Liggett, along with Dane Rheinecker (+4), all played competitive golf and, despite narrowly missing a spot on the all-tournament team, battled for spots inside the top 10. C. Milligan was sixth overall after the first 18 holes before shooting an even par round over the last 18 holes to conclude the tournament.
The field was heavy with NCAA Division II competition, including Tusculum University which won the tournament. Milligan, in fourth, was only 11 strokes off the lead and eight strokes off second place after day one.
Up next, Milligan returns to Johnson City Country Club to host the East Tennessee Collegiate Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 30 – Oct. 1. After that, the Buffs have only two events left on the fall calendar, including the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Championship Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 21-22.
