Offensive outburst powers Men’s Basketball past Truett McConnell 91-74

CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 14, 2023) – The Milligan University men's basketball team romped to a 91-74 win at Truett McConnell on Tuesday evening.
Milligan rises to 2-1 on the season and in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Truett McConnell falls to 2-3, 1-2 AAC. The Bears had won six of their last seven matchups against the Buffs going into the game, including wins over Milligan in each of the last two AAC Tournaments.
The Buffs shot a blistering 75 percent (12-16) from the field in the opening 10 minutes of action. Milligan used a 21-4 run to establish a 25-11 lead seven minutes into the contest and led by double-digits the rest of the game. Milligan led by as many as 19 points (42-24) in the first half and carried a 51-37 lead into the halftime break.
The Buffs led by over 20 points for most of the second half, and after two nail-biters to open conference play, Milligan ran away with the 17-point road win.
Milligan shot 55.4 percent (36-65) for the game and drained 10 threes at 37 percent while holding Truett McConnell to 12.5 percent (2-16) from beyond the arc. The Buffs won the rebounding battle 43-27 and had a 22-10 edge in assists.
Four players scored in double-figures on the evening. Follie Bogan led the Buffs with 25 points and nine rebounds. McCaskill Rivers added 20 points on seven-of-10 shooting from the field and made all five of his foul shots.
Lincoln Thomae recorded 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Luke Lentz drained three three-pointers on his way to 11 points. Sam Gold had eight points and five rebounds. Flynn Carlson registered eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks.
Milligan travels to St. Andrews on Thursday.
